Operation Iraqi Freedom was an integral part of the War on Terror. With this action President Bush as not only liberated a people who lived in fear under a cruel regime, he has sent a message loud and clear to other Islamic nations that would engage in state sponsorship of terrorism. Terrorism, by it's very heinous nature, is a publicity stunt. It is the act of individuals who can't or won't directly engage in military action. Terrorists specifically target non-combatants and innocent people for the purpose of creating fear. It serves no purpose to commit a terrorist act anonymously. The current policy of the United States puts terrorists between a rock and a hard place. If they do act, they do so at their own risk. A terrorist now risks his or her own life in committing an act of terrorism. In addition to the swift and overwhelming response by the United States military, the support structure for the terrorist comes under scrutiny. A regime that sponsors terror risks extinction. Sponsorship of terrorism can be as simple as allowing terrorists refuge within a nation's borders or monetary rewards for families of suicide murderers. State Sponsorship can also mean funding, training, weapons, logistical support and intelligence resources. Without this assistance, terrorists cannot organize or be truly effective or efficient enough to carry out coordinated attacks.

The recent "flap" in Washington D.C. over Iraqi
intelligence is the product of Democratic strategists.
They are praying for scandal, they are wishing for a
delayed economic recovery, they are hoping for
anything that will prevent George W. Bush from being
re-elected. The leftist demagogues have been
relentlessly in sending out Democrat after Democrat to
make false and inflammatory statements about this
administration.
It's truly sad to see that the Democratic party
has become so desperate for power that they are
actively questioning the Commander-in-Chief during
wartime and hoping to delay the economic recovery.
Have the Democrats become so vacant of substantial new
ideas that they can only sling mud?
In a nutshell, the Democrats are accusing President
Bush of justifying the war in Iraq by citing a British
report about Iraq trying to obtain uranium in Africa
during the State of the Union address. This position
is laughable for three reasons:
1. President Bush made it clear that there were three
factors we used to determine that military
intervention and regime change was required in Iraq:
WMD, Terrorist Ties/State sponsorship, and horrible
human rights conditions. Other countries may have one
or even two of these factors. However, in the post
9/11 world, the combination of all three of these
factors in Iraq along with Saddam's ruthless and cruel
regime required action.
2. The comment about uranium was a small portion of
the speech and certainly not the backbone or even a
major part of the Presidents case. In fact, he
specifically said that the report was British in
origin. Prior to the war, we had plenty of evidence to
support liberating Iraq including terrorist training
camps in Salman Pak and connections between Saddam's
regime and various Islamic terrorist organizations.
The mass graves, evidence of genocide, nuclear
centrifuge equipment, mobile biological weapons labs
and chemical weapons delivery systems we have found
since liberating Iraq confirm that we did the right
thing.
3. While the specific report cited may have been a
forgery the actual data appears to be TRUE! The
British still stand by the claim that Iraq was
pursuing the uranium in Africa and have corroborated
much of the intelligence with wiretaps and other
intelligence sources. Simultaneously, while our own
National Intelligence Estimate concludes that the
Iraqi-African uranium connection IS valid, the
Democrats dare to call the President a liar!
Whatever your feeling about Operation Iraqi Freedom
it's time that Democrats quit bearing false witness
against our Commander-in-Chief. Playing politics may
be business as usual in Washington D.C., but the
Democrats would do well to remember that by
undermining the war on terror, the political games
they are playing will have real human casualties.
