IRAQ, BIN LADEN, AND 9/11: WE ARE BEING LIED TO
Because of their leftist leanings, the mainstream media has adopted the position that the War in Iraq was unrelated to the War on Terror and that the intelligence leading all reasonable people to conclude that Iraq posed a threat was flawed. Here are some quotes by some of the left leaning politicians, quotes which have become the "conventional wisdom" of the major media.
"The evidence now shows clearly that Saddam did not want to work with Osama Bin Laden at all, much less give him weapons of mass destruction." Former Vice President Al Gore
"Clearly the al Qaeda connection was hyped and exaggerated, in my view." Senator Diane Feinstein
"There is no credible evidence that Iraq actively aided al Queda." Carnegie Endowment for International Peace
"There's absolutely no evidence that Iraq was supporting al Qaeda, ever." Richard Clarke, former counterterrorism official under Bill Clinton and George W. Bush
Even John Kerry who voted to authorize the war now argues that "The global war on terrorism has actually been set back."
Apparently, either these people are incompetent or totally disingenuous.
Osama Bin Laden cited the Gulf War and U.S. troop presence on "sacred land" as the reason for his attacks. This obvious piece of evidence right here shows that some connection exists between Bin Laden and Iraq. But a formal relationship? Iraq's "secular" leader and and a extremist Islamic terrorist like Bin Laden could never cooperate....Or could they?
Since 1991 it is widely reported that Saddam Hussein sent intelligence operatives throughout the world to strike at U.S. and Western targets.
After 9/11, almost all world leaders expressed sympathy with America. A major exception was Saddam Hussein. The Iraqi regime, in fact, openly celebrated the event.
Prior to the events of 9/11, Iraqi intelligence agents met with al-Qaeda agents in Malaysia, the Sudan, Afghanistan, and reportedly Prague, Czech Republic. Iraqi intelligence asset Ahmed Hikmat Shakir met with nine top al-Queda terrorists in August 2000 in Kuala Lumpur. No credible evidence?
A dossier recovered shortly after the conclusion of the war in Iraq, from the Iraqi intelligence headquarters in Baghdad lists individuals from Kuwait and Saudi Arabia whom the Iraqi regime considered intelligence assets. The list includes Osama Bin Laden. No connection between al-Queda and Iraq?
An Iraqi terrorist admitted mixing the chemicals for the bomb used in the first World Trade Center attacks. One the bombers returned to Baghdad with active assistance of the Iraqi embassy in Amman, Jordan. Iraq didn't want to work with al-Queda?
Even Hillary Clinton, speaking on the floor of the Senate said, "Saddam Hussein has given aid, comfort and sanctuary to terrorists, including al-Qaeda members.
French foreign minister Dominique de Villepin said "The security of America is under threat from people like Saddam Hussein who are capable of using chemical and biological weapons."
Saddam Hussein's rhetoric changed after the Gulf War becoming less and less secular and more and more "Islamized" as he became a fierce proponent of a fiery jihad. Lacking any other way to strike at his enemies, Saddam clearly became an ally to extremist groups like al-Qaeda.
Dr. Stanley Beddington, senior analyst and chief of foreign liaison at the CIA's counterterrorism center from 1986 to 1994 said "Saddam did make a serious attempt to make inroads with the extremists...Their hatred of the United States alone could bring them together."
Paul Wilkerson, a noted terrorism expert, wrote that "Saddam has been building links with terrorist organizations for many months, so the possibility of giving them the backup of Iraqi secret services and diplomatic assets is quite real."
Oh! How Al Gore's tune has changed!! He berated the first Bush administration for a "blatant disregard for brutal terrorism" in regards to Iraq. Gore made over a dozen specific references to Iraq-sponsored terrorism. He cited a study by the RAND Corporation that reported "an estimated 1,400 terrorists were operating openly out of Iraq." Contrast that to his statements above.
Gore later criticized the first Bush administration more acutely saying, "President Bush had ample information early on to suggest that Saddam Hussein was a major danger to region and to U.S. interests." Gore went on, "Including information that he was aggressively seeking technologies for weapons of mass destruction and that he was offering state payments to terrorists."
In 1994 al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden requested that Iraq serve as a go-between for arms shipments. Money from Iraq was going to bin Laden. Bin Laden linked groups effectively served as money launderers for Saddam. Around this time Bin Laden also requested the establishment of al Qaeda training camps inside Iraq.
THE AL QAEDA CONNECTION WAS HYPED AND EXAGGERATED SENATOR FEINSTEIN????????
During Bill Clinton's presidency, Iraq's terror ties were a source of constant fear and worry. Rumors have weapons from Iraq being shipped to Libya, Sudan, and possibly Iran. The Sunday Times of London reported that Iraq was "manufacturing poison gas at a secret location in Sudan."
The CIA has reporting from a regular and reliable source that meetings between al Qaeda and Iraqi intelligence took place throughout the late 90's.
The Clinton administration said that:
"Al-Qaeda would work cooperatively with the government of Iraq."
Then there is the April 2001 meeting in Prague, Czech Republic between Sept 11th hijacker Mohammed Atta and high level Iraqi Intelligence operative Ahmed Khalil Ibrahim Samir al-Ani. Apparently, the name was too difficult to type for the American media. This meeting would all but prove an Iraqi-9/11 connection.
It would be too generous to say the media simply DIDN'T REPORT this story. The media actively went out of it's way to DISCREDIT the story. Imagine, the "un-biased" media using their influence to bury an intelligence report.
We are being LIED to folks. Why are these myriad connections between al-Qaeda and Iraq being ignored and distorted? Why are the laughably illogical conspiracy theories of kooks like Michael Moore celebrated when hard intelligence is called flawed or exaggerated?? It seems as if George Orwell's worst prediction are coming true, black is white. Up is down.
