Defiance of Tyranny

It's time to put Kerry's record under the microscope:

The inevitability of terrorism?

We have often heard from a variety of sources that the terrorists will attack again and there is nothing we can do about it. That may well be true. But terrorists, like all other people, need certain things. To live they need air to breathe, water to drink and food to eat. To learn they need access to the various forms of media. To be effective, they need training, financial support, weapons, intelligence and refuge. In other words, unless there is a terrorist "Hall of Doom" zooming around the planet right now with Lex Luthor at the helm, terrorists need a location.

What the U.S. and our partner nations around the globe can do about this is to use our intelligence, our military might and our political pressure to keep them moving, keep them hiding, keep them ill supplied and keep them guessing. They certainly can't afford to stick their heads out. No nation in the world would be stupid enough to engage in sponsorship of these terrorists.

No more do terrorists have a license to train, plan and devise attacks against an unwary opponent. Terrorists have moved to soon and exposed themselves. The attacks of Sepember 11th were devastating and horrific but imagine how much worse it could have been had a nuclear device or other WMD was used. Now, they face the might and will of the free world.

They have limited resources. We need to do our best to limit them even more. They have little time. We need to tighten the noose. They have few options. We need to close down all their avenues. They have no place to hide. We need to continue to make it clear to the world that it is unacceptable to offer them refuge or other forms of state sponsorship.

Even the "sleeper cells" within the organizations must lose some members through attrition. Terrorists, after all, are only human and have free will. They could simply choose to leave the network, ignore orders, or even begin to assist the authorities in exchange for protection. Some will leave because they think their cause is hopeless, particularly with recent successes by the U.S. in the War on Terror. Some will leave because they feel the extremist leaders of the network are acting in a blasphemous way. Still others will see the opportunity for a better life for themselves and, perhaps, their families.

There are literally thousands of professionals dedicated to tracking terrorists down, foiling their plans and devising new security procedures and technologies to make it harder for these murderers to strike innocent people.

There are millions of vigilant, dedicated law enforcement personnel around the world with the ability and training to stop threats before they happen and respond quickly if they do occur. Let's not forget the U.S. military, the most powerful fighting force the world has ever seen which can respond quickly and forcefully to multiple international situations and project power into the regions of the world where instability is a cause for concern.

The way I see it, the only inevitable thing is that the terrorists will ultimately fail because they are on the losing team.

How DARE Theresa Heinz-Kerry refer to the last 4 years of life in America as "four more years of hell."??? Well, Mrs. Heinz-Kerry how about living for four years under the Taliban in Afghanistan where if you dared to speak out against the sitting leader you would have been beheaded, thrown from a building or stoned to death? How about four years of living under Saddam Hussein's cruel regime where, were you attractive enough to draw the eye of Uday or Qusay, you would have been violated in a government sanctioned rape room. If you were a Kurdish woman in the town of Halabja you might have lived long enough to see your entire family die a painful death from chemical weapons before your own mucus membranes started to dissolve inside your own body and you vomited up your lungs. You might want to know what "hell" is Mrs. Heinz-Kerry before you start casting aspersions at the American way of life these past years. You might want to know what the "hell" you're talking about!

America has overcome many obstacles in the past 4 years. We have rebounded economically from a recession and a devastating terrorist attack. We haven't sat back and tried to appease the terrorists. Extremists who would slaughter anyone who disagrees with their extremist version of Islam. We have been pro-active and created a foothold for democracy in the heart of the Middle East. We have done this under the steady and unwavering leadership of President George W. Bush. We have done this while working hard, building homes in record numbers, starting businesses and creating wealth for millions of Americans. We are living the American dream, Mrs. Heinz-Kerry whether the terrorists want us to or not. September 11th may have been a hellish spectacle, but it didn't break OUR spirit Mrs. Heinz-Kerry. Just because you are ready to close up shop and appease these murderers doesn't mean you speak for Americans.

Code? We don't need no stinkin' code!

A new book by Darrell L. Bock PH.D, research professor of New Testament Studies at the Dallas Theological Seminary, is aimed squarely at Dan Brown's anti-Catholic diatribe "The Da Vinci Code".

The book systematically addresses the various issues raised in "The Da Vinci Code", not only by close examination of scripture, but also by putting the assumptive reasoning of the author to the test. Admittedly, "The Da Vinci Code" is a work of fiction and meant for entertainment, but art has often been used to slip personal opinion and biases into the cultural vocabulary. Historical inaccuracy and a lack of familiarity with the theological issues hinder "The Da Vinci Code" from making it's case. No matter how entertaining a read it is, several of it's major conclusions are rendered impotent at the skilled hands of Mr. Bock. "Breaking the Da Vinci Code" is short and concise and available at Costco for $9.99. Worthwhile reading.

O.K. Let's drop politics for a second. Let's all pause and wonder at the JOKE the U.S. Olympic basketball team is. Let's marvel at how myopic the USA basketball commitee is. Let's belly-laugh at the IRONY that ESPN chose to broadcast it's "Streetball" program the same night the Italian team embarrassed the punk U.S. pros. Ironic, because "streetball, is ALL that is wrong with the game. All flash and no results. Style over substance.

"Streetball" is basically a bunch of talented individuals (certainly you can't call these buffoons teammates) their goal isn't to work as a unit to win. It's to look fancy, flashy and embarrass one's defender. It's kind of like watching an improvised, sloppy globetrotters game. Except the Washington Generals are trying the same, tired tricks. The fact is, you take the top five "streetball" players in the world put them up against a well coached college squad they would get worked.

The USA basketball team should quit embarrassing the nation and disgracing American basketball by assembling a group of opportunistic NBA all-stars. Does anyone seriously think the Italian team could beat the Detroit Pistons or the L.A. Lakers?

I hope YOU are as outraged as I am about the state of Olympic men's basketball. All Star teams won't cut it unless you have true team players on them. Team players are a rare commodity in today's NBA. Guys like Bird, Magic, Jordan and Barkley don't grow on trees. Perhaps the NBA runner-up should represent the nation rather than some hodge-podge group of individuals. Even a intact college squad would represent us better than these lame, ego-geek pros.
