Narnia (with spoilers...)
O.K. I saw the film and it left me with roughly the same feeling that I had when I read the the book circa 1982. A few things stick out in my mind from reading the book. I knew at the time that it was a quality book. The writing was excellent. The description of Narnia was magical, if a little lacking in Tolkienesque detail. I wanted to see the movie if only to irritate the virulent and repugnant anti-religious element that has been protesting the film's religious allegorical content in addition to it's stark and morally unflinching depiction of good and evil. I didn't really want to see the movie because I felt the book betrayed me on a few counts:
1. I never liked (or got over) the cruelty and murder of Aslan. Yes, it was a noble and heroic sacrifice, but the depiction of the cruelty really bothered me.
2. I didn't care for the abrupt transition from a childish world of non-accountibility to the harsh Narnia world of life or death consequences.
3. I didn't like the fact that time "stood still" while they were in the wardrobe, and that after all the growth and maturation they had accomplished, they found themselves to be children again after leaving Narnia.
The film version of Narnia has good lessons for older kids and neat effects that all audiences can enjoy.

Make no mistake, the Federal Air marshals acted appropriately. If you are a person who cannot rationally control yourself or are not accountable for your actions DO NOT PUT YOURSELF OR OTHERS IN A POSITION WHERE IT CAN BE INTERPRETED THAT YOU ARE A THREAT TO THE PLANE.
This society has lost all sense of accountability. People think there is always an excuse. Always a justification. Always a cop-out.
Thank you Federal Air Marshals for keeping us safe.
