POLL: Republicans Are Happier In Life Than Democrats...

A recent "Roll-Call" poll determined that even when adjusted for income level, Republicans were happier people than Democrats.


It is all a matter of mind-set. Republicans believe in liberty, in objective moral absolutes and in self-reliance. Democrats believe in collectivism, no right or wrong, and dependence.

It comes from a foundation of character. If you grow up believing that you are a victim, that the government should take care of you and that most of your fellow citizens are, in general, stupid or evil people that need government to act as a "Nanny-State" you become a Democrat.

If you grow up believing that you are responsible for your own actions, that the government is more of a hurdle than a help and that, in general, people are pretty smart and good you become a Republican.

The biggest myth of modern politics is that Republicans and Democrats are the far ends of the political spectrum. A realistic example of the political spectrum is:

Totalitarianism...Communism...Fascism...American system...Libertarianism...Anarchy

Within the American system Democrats fall to the left and Republicans to the right.

You can see how someone who was totally self-reliant, disdained government and believed the good about everyone would be towards the right side of the political spectrum.

Conversely, you can see how the idea of totalitarianism could develop if people were absolute victims, believed that massive government was required to control people and that people were savages when left to their own devices.
