Defiance of Tyranny

Today was one of those "Hawaii" days.

Here on the Big Island, the weather is almost always pleasant and in the 80's even when we get occasional rain showers, it's a light tropical affair and a little jump in humidity. The Kona side of the island is usually less rainy and less humid than the Hilo side.

Today was one of those perfect days. I soaked up more than my share of sun and will be using aloe to cool my glowing skin for a few days. I have enough of a base to avoid burning, but the tropical sun can overwhelm just about anyone's natural defenses over the course of a day.

Getting in the water is a must and there are several places to enjoy a quick dip. Today, after I lounged like a Galapagos Marine Iguana on the black rocky coastline, I simply climbed over a rock wall and down onto a small natural "bath" in the lava rock. There are a few fine beaches and many other ways to get wet, but this particular slice of paradise was all mine, which I rather enjoyed.
